YOTEL, the affordable luxury hotel group have just installed an automated, biometric time and attendance system in their innovative European airport hotels for staff or 'crew' as YOTEL like to call them to register for duty. The new system installed by Bodet at the Heathrow, Gatwick and Schiphol sites uses full palm scanners which are connected directly to HQ and provides accurate and reliable real-time attendance data for management planning and payroll.
YOTEL's finance director Gemma Gowers commented, "YOTEL is the only airport hotel company that sells rooms by the hour, which has helped us to achieve a 200% occupancy at Heathrow. It's therefore imperative that all our hotels are fully staffed around the clock so we can provide the first class service that our customers demand. With over 70 crew employed on different rotas, it's difficult to monitor attendance accurately, especially on nights and during peak periods."
Swallows Meadow Court, a residential care home with Nursing in the West Midlands employing over 120 staff, has installed an automated biometric time and attendance system which is designed not only to ensure accurate and reliable data for payroll and management planning, but to save time for all staff.
Payroll administrator Marion Vickers commented, “We provide round the clock care so we operate a 24 hour shift system, and obtaining accurate time and attendance data was always a problem with paper-based time sheets. It took us hours every month checking for errors or exaggerated claims, correlate the times with each shift and then manually enter the data for payroll. Even then we couldn’t be certain the data was accurate.”
Writhlington Sports and Leisure has made paper-based timesheets redundant by installing a new Bodet time and attendance system that incorporates digital fingerprint scanners. The new biometric system means clocking in and out is now totally automated saving time for staff at every level.
Based at Writhlington School in Radstock, Writhlington Sports and Leisure is a community based facility providing a diverse range of Sports and Leisure activities for the local communities and surrounding areas in North East Somerset. With a broad range of facilities for adults and children including a fitness suite, an activity centre, and facilities for badminton, tennis, cricket and football, the Sports Centre employs over 70 part and full time staff.

The historic Stapleford Park Country House Hotel and Sporting Estate in Leicestershire has just installed biometric fingerprint terminals to provide accurate real-time staff attendance data for the HR and payroll teams.
Like many hospitality venues, Stapleford Park employs a diverse range of personnel including casual and agency staff, and ensuring accurate, reliable time and attendance data can be a problem. Even if staff remember to complete and return paper-based time sheets, they can be prone to accidental errors and false entries are not unknown.
UGO Foods employs over 100 production staff and operates a broad range of shifts as the company operates around the clock to supply retailers like Waitrose and John Lewis Food Halls.
The company decided on implementing Bodet’s biometric time and attendance system because its handscan terminals are easy to use and it is able to record reliable time and attendance information : “The staff took to the new system quickly as it was very easy for them to use,” said Samantha Hatton, HR manager of UGO Foods. “They simply place their hands on the scanner as they arrive or leave and the scanner captures the handprint which is compared against a stored profile to identify them.”
Leading telecom company Talk Talk, has just installed a new digital time and attendance system at its Solihull headquarters and five of it’s regional shops. The system provided by The Bodet Group uses networked biometric scanners to acquire real time staff attendance data to reduce HR administration time and improve workforce management.
Talk Talk’s business development manager, Howard Kanzira said, “Like many companies, we used a paper based system to record staff attendance, but we found this wasn’t working effectively and was open to abuse. With 27 shops around the UK, we needed a system that would provide reliable and accurate real time data both for payroll and personnel management at all our sites”
